Blatant disregard of regulation and abuse of a council posistion should be and is considered unacceptable. To be recognized as an elected official, and participating in events should be encouraged and accomodated.
We agree, except we depart where they don't follow the rules. I guess the point of following the rules and law are irrelevant?
I agree that our council members and mayor should be at events to show off the City and such, however, there is a right way and a wrong way.
The right way is to have a council resolution and have the City pay for it. Had they done it that way I would have supported them doing so. But they didn't and that leaves a bad taste and smell in the air.
I notice that Two Council Members, one whose Ward covers the arena are not mentioned, maybe they saw that this didn't smell right and choose to take the right path rather than one that leaves people wondering about the council and Mayor.
I don't want to have to wonder about the Council or the Mayor, it would be nice if they were above reproach in their activities. Maybe next time they will get it right, if not they need to be slapped for it.
