Erik, the problem with smoking and nonsmoking in the same facility is that it is almost impossible to actually keep smoke out ot the NS section, and the workers in both sections continue to have unsafe working conditions.
The current state regulation does not apply to bars at all and restaurants are only required to have 30% ns and a 4' barrier separating the two sections. No one I am aware of who has worked on this issue sees a way to smoking and nonsmoking in the same air exchange area and not have a problem. Honeywell, which obviously specializes in this area, only claims to be able to make areas more comfortable, not more healthy. Check out the ANSR website for other information. ansrmn.org Erik Hare wrote: > > > > Could someone send me a pointer to, or just post, the existing regulations > regarding non-smoking sections in restaurants? > > I'm wondering if we shouldn't just opt for a big expansion of non-smoking > sections, to the point where some people will opt to go smoke free but if > places really want to allow smoking they have to provide ventilation of a > certain rate, etc. > > I'd like to see what's in place now to see if that can be expanded without > a lot of fuss, as it seems to work. > > Erik Hare [EMAIL PROTECTED] http://home.comcast.net/~wabbitoid/ > Irvine Park, West End, Saint Paul, Minnesota, USA, North America, Earth > > Fine Amish furniture, cedar chests, and crafts http://www.harmonycedar.com > > _____________________________________________ > NEW ADDRESS FOR LIST: [EMAIL PROTECTED] > > To subscribe, modify subscription, or get your password - visit: > http://www.mnforum.org/mailman/listinfo/stpaul > > Archive Address: > http://www.mnforum.org/mailman/private/stpaul/ -- Jeanne Weigum 651-646-3005 fax 651-646-0142 _____________________________________________ NEW ADDRESS FOR LIST: [EMAIL PROTECTED] To subscribe, modify subscription, or get your password - visit: http://www.mnforum.org/mailman/listinfo/stpaul Archive Address: http://www.mnforum.org/mailman/private/stpaul/
