While this is going to go off topic a bit, I feel it needs to be stated. Senator Dick Day (and many others) increasingly use inflammatory, impulsive and often ill-conceived statements in the public realm to illustrate their opinions, which they often claim as fact. Day said a similarly condemning statement last year related to teachers and the teaching profession in the metro area. (I cannot remember it and do not want to "put words" in his words by incorrectly paraphrasing.) While listening to/watching the legislature this spring, I have become so frustrated and disillusioned by their (Dems and Reps alike) willingness to be civil and constructive in their interactions. Despite being a political junkie, I've gotten so irritated by their conduct that I've completely disconnected.

In a feeble attempt to connect this to St Paul. . . we've seen this kind of behavior at the federal level, we have been seeing it grow at the state level. Are our local politicians at risk of devolving to this same kind of base and disrespectful conduct? If this is the direction of politics, we are in BIG trouble.
