Many emails... Strings are considered different if they are in different context - in Qt that means if they are in different classes. Trying to have a string in only one Qt class creates ugly and hard to manage code and frankly very unnatural code. I've done this in a few places, but in general it is a lot more pain than gain.
Transifex recognizes identical strings in different contexts and will suggest the matching string. So most of the time it's just a quick click to accept the existing translation. And sometimes you stumble accross these instances where the same English word does need two different translations. What is a completely different situation are cases with different capitalization or otherwise differences (abbreviations without period, words that run together in one string but not in another, etc). Those should be fixed. I pointed this out just a few days ago. Please don't complain, just send a patch, of if you can't send a patch for whatever reason, send email to the mailing list pointing out the exact strings that you are concerned about (and as you saw, Lubomir quickly took care of it). Localization is a pain. The tools are crude, it's tiring work, it's often frustrating. I wish there was a better way to do this, but I'm not aware of one. It's a team effort where we all need to work together. /D _______________________________________________ subsurface mailing list [email protected] http://lists.subsurface-divelog.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/subsurface
