FWIW the DTU is certainly connecting to the correct
firmware server - as there is only one server on the network
for it to connect to.

What does utquery report for the Sun Ray in question? "Bad Read" simply means that the TFTP read attempt failed. Do you have TFTP enabled on your firmware server?
