Hi Craig/Kent,

What does utquery report for the Sun Ray in question? "Bad Read" simply
means that the TFTP read attempt failed. Do you have TFTP enabled on
your firmware server?

This Sun Ray has no firmware server configured, for whatever reason. How are you providing that information? That's probably why any utload attempt is failing. What does utquery from one of the Sun Rays that did load firmware return?

Kent

Thanks for your help - utquery (edited) for this DTU returns:

terminalID=00144fe4b512
        terminalIPA=xxx.xxx.221.78
        model=SunRayP8
        currentAuth=xxx.xxx.221.34
        currentFW=4.1_44_2008.08.12.16.39
        currentBarrier=325
        currentBarrierLevel=325
        currentMTU=1500
        Subnet=255.255.240.0
        Router=xxx.xxx.223.254
        LeaseTim=432000
        DHCPServer=xxx.xxx.190.74
        FWservType=none
        configMTU=1500
        dnsList=xxx.xxx.190.1,xxx.xxx.191.1
        dname=some.domain.com
        stopqon=0
        bandwidth=100000000

tftp service appears to be online, and forced firmware updates
to other clients has worked fine:

online         15:11:30 svc:/network/tftp/udp6:default

The (edited) present contents of /tftpboot are:

-rwxr-xr-x   1 root     sys       475642 May 15 08:54
SunRayP8-4.0_127553-03_2008.05.14.13.48
lrwxrwxrwx   1 root     root          39 Sep 22 23:33 SunRayP8.00144FE4B512 ->
SunRayP8-4.0_127553-03_2008.05.14.13.48
-rw-r--r--   1 root     root          79 Sep 22 23:33
SunRayP8.00144FE4B512.parms

Permissions on the directory are:

drwxr-xr-x   2 root     root        2560 Sep 22 23:33 tftpboot

Any more info you need please let me know and thanks for helping. I'm just
wondering
if something got screwed up with this DTU when it wondered off and downloaded
the v4.1
firmware originally...

Cheers,
Dave

Is the firmware actually in the /tftpboot directory? What are the
permissions?  tftp running?
