Is the firmware actually in the /tftpboot directory? What are the permissions? tftp running?

Thanks again for your reply.

I've paid a bit more attention to the OSD while
running utfwload (involved scheduling the command
as the DTU is remote and there's only one of me - lots
of running around!), and what in fact is happening
is that I am seeing a "Bad Read 4 G" error. This
is consistent on every attempt to update the firmware
using this command, and I imagine the reason behind
why it's failing to downgrade firmware using utfwadm -F

I've had a look through the docs and can't find any
detailed desciprtion of this error - any clues?

FWIW the DTU is certainly connecting to the correct
firmware server - as there is only one server on the network
for it to connect to.

Cheers,
Dave

Make sure issue DTU reading the .parms from the Sun Ray server
where utfwadm -A -e 00144fe4b512 -F -V has been run.

Hi P.S.M.Swamiji,

Thanks for your reply, I entered this and no joy as yet:

$ utfwadm -A -e 00144fe4b512 -F -V

SunRayP8     4.0_127553-03_2008.05.14.13.48

After recyling power to the DTU in question:

$ utfwload -a
 4.0 utku1    xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx P8.00144fe4b512    4.1_44_2008.08.12.16.39

( Other DTUs list as:
 2.0 utku0    xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx   P7.0003babba390
GUI4.0_127553-03_2008.05.14.13.48
 3.0 utku3    xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx   P8.00144fd183b9
GUI4.0_127553-03_2008.05.14.13.48 )

Am I missing a step somehow?

Cheers,
Dave

Hi Kent,

Thanks - I enter this command and the output is as follows:

$ utfwadm -A -e 00144FE4B512 -F

Error: cannot create macro "00144FE4B512":
Error: cannot create macro "0100144FE4B512": Warning: No DHCP configuration
file exists.
There is no way to verify the data store version for this operation. dhtadm:

My SunRay server is not the SunRay DHCP server...is it possible to force a
firmware downgrade
in my scenario?

Yes. Try utfwadm -A -e 00144FE4B512 -F -V.

I've run utfwadm -A -a -V -f /opt/SUNWut/lib/firmware_gui followed by
utfwload -L, and this has updated my other SunRays to
GUI4.0_127553-03_2008.05.14.13.48 version firmware just
fine.

Use the -F option on utfwadm to force the barrier level.
