About question 1:

1 Sun called in (year?) the Sun Ray device a thin client. There is no OS, and no rendering on the Sun Ray. The processing and rendering takes place on a server which can have an (RDP) connection to a (Windows terminal) server.

2 In the following years many venders brought diskless mini-pc's to the market and called these devices thin clients as well. They have an OS, connect to a (Windows terminal) server and render images on a local grahpics board.

3 In (year?)Sun renamed their Sun Ray device into ultra thin client

In Wikipedia <http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thin_client>we ca read:
The term /thin client/ was coined in 1993 by Tim Negris, VP of Server Marketing at Oracle Corp. <http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Oracle_Corp.>, while working with company founder Larry Ellison <http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Larry_Ellison> on the launch of Oracle 7 <http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Oracle_database>.

can someone clarify?
