Same problem here.  The students love them...teacher(s) not so much.
Apparently enough so that this past summer, an entire lab of 30 Sun Rays
(which has been around for at least 8 years in some form or other) was
switched to new Windows PCs purchased by the school district, which have
less powerful specs than the current Sun Ray backend here, despite
countywide budget cuts and no staff pay raises for the past two years.

Of course, schools also suffer from Microsoft vendor lock-in
(http://wyang0.blogspot.com/2010/01/microsoft-licensing-for-schools-lock-in.
html).
