Before I used a mixer I had a single deck which I had hooked up into my amp
using a special phono preamp. I picked it up from a hifi store for around
25ukp, sound quality was superb, no hassle to set up. I think that running the
output from that straight into the pc should work fine. For grounding, you can
attach the ground line from the deck to the pc's casing, that should be
grounded to the same level as the sound card.
