Yup, 1210s (and most record decks) output at RIAA level and most sound
cards expect Line level or mic level (Which ARE different)
RIAA has a reduced bass level so that you can record a track onto
vinyl, if you didn't use RIAA to record on vinyl, the tracks would be
     over 1cm wide & deep!!!

The simplest way of linking a 1210 to a PC is to go to Tandy
(Radio-shack), Maplins or any such electronics store and buy yourself
an RIAA to Line level convertor... I think the cheapo one I bought
when our pro one failed cost about 20 quid from Maplin and came with
all connectors and power adapator... It sounded pretty reasonable, but
obviously not as good as the 200 quid Pro-audio one that it was
     temperarily replacing!

Hope this helps save someone some money!

     Ian...

I don't think you can hook up your 1210's to a pc. i tried and failed,
anyway. your pc is expecting things at 'mic' level. your turntables play
at 'line' level. you have to route your turntables through something like a
mixer (even a cheap one will do), then plug that into the pc.

of course if someone knows to the contrary, tell us all - i would love to be
able to skip the additional hardware.
