I don't think it will at all. I have my Umax Astra 600S SCSI
connected always but
in my case, the scanner must be off when I boot up. If I want to
scan, I turn it on. If the scanner is on when, I boot, I only see a
blank screen. I think idle devices just burn
power. So it's not gonna burn out if it's off. Hope that helps.
