Nils, Yes, it may well work! Thanks for being one of the first to try it! I've been through this many times being one of the first to run OSX on the J700/S900 . I had to write my own software as XPostFacto didn't exist yet! The black screen of death is a well known problem with a failed install. The quick fix which should work on your machine. Is to as you did remove the battery "and unplug the machine" let set for 10 plus min. and then push the cuda button for 30 sec. Put the battery back in and plug in and away you go. Village tronic has software for OSX on their website. So that Video card should work with OSX. But your C600 has on board video and it may well install and boot better with it. You can then add the Village tronic later. You may need to remove the Village tronic PCI card to do the install. The Phase 5 G3 is a nice card and very rare in the USA. It should work with OSX but again if you have the 603 cpu that may work better for the install or not??? I see you have two CD players try both of them them if one will boot the CD.My guess is the CD player maybe the current problem or the Video card since it needs drivers for OSX but you can't add them until you have OSX installed.... To install from the OSX 10.01 CD you need to be running OS 9.04 or newer. To install from the OSX 10.1 CD you have to be running OS 9.1. There should be no need to remove extensions etc. Best of luck Will S I hope that helps and you get it to work let me/us know how things go. -- SuperMacs is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/> and...
