Chris, Well I've been gone all day but just now trying to catch up on this thread. Good to see you're getting things narrowed down. A really good place to buy an OS CD is on the LEM Swap List. Usually $15-$20 will get you something between 8.1 and 9.1 or even an OS X. But if you ever want to run the X (once you get that G3 and new ram), you need 9 or 9.1 first.
