On Tuesday, July 30, Ernest L. Gunerius queried:

Some where I read that adding a number to : <CMD><OPT><SHFT><DEL> as
in <CMD><OPT><SHFT><DEL><NUM> where <NUM> is the ID# of a drive, will
cause the Mac to boot from Drive ID#<NUM>.

<SNIP>

I did a modified Vulcan Death Grip with
the left hand and used the right hand to first hit start and then hit
delete. The resultant cramping of my arthritic fingers caused caused
some finger tips to tremble with the result a start with "all
extentions off".

When my fingers recover I will try a modified Vulcan Death Grip but
cross handed. Probably tommorrow.

Perhaps the more dexterous of the group could test the above assertion

Ernie,

I have done this with 6 bootable drives in my S900:

ID-0 Quantum Fireball, ID-1 MO, ID-2 SyJet, ID-3 OEM CD, ID-4 Plextor CD,
ID-5 Quantum Fireball.

With bootable systems on all internal SCSI addresses, adding the ID number
boots from that device. If it helps, I have found that I can usually get the
4 finger of my right hand on the death grip keys and use my left hand for
the id number.
