On Monday, July 29, 2002 at 3:00 AM Kennedy Brandt yawned: The SuperMac S900 System CD version 1.0 featured a licensed copy of System 7.5.3, I believe. All S900s, J700s, and probably the S910 should be able to boot from 7.5.3, but as been stated previously, not just any old 7.5.3 System CD will work.
-Kennedy To which I reply, Jeez Kennedy, don't you EVER sleep?:-) FWIW, my S900D came with The SuperMac S900 System CD version 1.0 and it indeed was MacOS version 7.5.3. However, both my S900s will boot any factory bootable CD and any correctly made burnt bootable CD, at least from 7.5.5 on. (I don't know that Apple ever released a factory 7.5.3 retail disk.) This includes the current crop of utilities that come on bootable CDs, including the DiskWarrior CD that has multiple boot OSs. The S900 boots into MacOS 9.1 from that disk. The S900D has the OEM Toshiba 6.7X CD reader and the S900L (for later ;-) has the infamous Matshita 8X reader. Understanding that different users have (and continue to have) mixed results booting S900s, I can only reiterate that the <CMD><OPT><SHFT><DEL> keystroke has always worked for me; once I understood that the <DEL> key in question is the <BACKSPACE> key of the typewriter keyboard portion and NOT the <DEL> key of the editing (cursor control) portion of the keyboard. Contrarily, the 'C' key has never worked for me. And Will, no disrespect, I seem to recall that you have had your problems with booting CDs, as have many others. -- SuperMacs is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/> and...
