I trashed the finder prefs and ran Disk warrior as you suggested, but the problem remains. I should mention that it was a fresh System install. Not using any 3rd party Finder enhancements, by the way. The only 'unusual' modification I can think of is I am using is the hacked Apple CD/DVD driver extension which has never given me any problems.
