There's so many variables Alan.
For me, now that OS X is the be all and end all, and Quartz graphics is the
big thing in 10.2, I'd have to say an AGP graphics G4 is one definite
priority. Perhaps another consideration is the dual processor G4's, what
with Apple moving their whole G4 line to dual's. The performance bonus with
those two things (AGP graphics & dual G4's) under OS X Jaguar may begin to
dictate, for me, what my next machine will be. Apple says OS X is it, and
they're tuning it to run best on dual processor machines, with AGP 32 mb or
higher ATI or Geforce video cards.

I recall a very telling performance chart in a MacWorld UK magazine. It had
a long list of PowerMacs in a descending bar graph. The only significant
jump in speed occurred at the G4/867 and on up. The differences between all
the G4's below the 867 were somewhat insignificant, having just modest
jumps.

Then there's "the money" thing, and "the what do I need it to do for me"
thing. Another biggie, the "what will my wife allow" thing. =)
