Here's my method for getting the side panel off of an S900.  Lay the 
machine on its right side, loosen the screw (it will come out) and 
depress the back tab while with the other hand, place fingers under 
the edge of panel near the tab and pull. Then repeat with the other 
edge.  Do small tugs on each side. This way prevents damage from a 
heavy palm. You can also remove the side panel while the S900 is 
standing with a little more practice using this method.  I remember 
Umax salespeople at the 1995 Macworld show removing panels from 
standing S900's with complete ease. HTH.
