Hi Pete, I have a mind like a steel sieve, so I need a little more quotation than that to remember what my last message was about. :-) > Then it started up all the way with the >Umax 200 604e in 9.1 but I have vertical corruption on the screen - I >think it's the viewsonic monitor adapter but I've lost the instructions - >hehheh. How old is that adapter? I used to work at a place that used all PCs but we got an order of about fifty Viewsonic monitors once. I went around and collected the serial numbers off of the monitors, faxed them to Viewsonic and received a box of adapters for my trouble. The ones they sent me all have the DIP switch setting printed on a label on the back, so if one loses the instructions, one has also lost the adapter. Anyway, if your adapter is the UnimacFly (which is what Viewsonic sent me) here are some common settings: 17" Multi-Res: 1,2,5,7,8 VGA (640X480 @60 Hz?): 3,4,5,8 14" Multi-Res: 1,2,5,6,7,8 13" (640 X 480 @75 Hz?): 1,2,5,8 Numbers indicate switches in the 'on' position. > Can I use a usb keyboard and mouse if I put a usb pci card in this >tub? - there don't seem to be any black adb's around. It should work, but you won't be able to start up from a USB keyboard. There are three choices for black ADB keyboards: 1) Paint one black--big pain 2) Scavenge the keyboard from a MacTV--this was a horribly underpowered model Apple released back when (mid- 90's). It was okay as a TV but a horrible computer. They used some of the worst "features" from their Performa line-up in it. But it came with a black keyboard. 3) NeXT (remember them?) used ADB keyboards on some of their models and they were black. They're pretty nice, though they lack function keys. They do have a keypad. The Command key is a long bar beneath the space bar. Model number is N-8001. NeXT also shipped similar looking keyboards which were not ADB, so one must shop smart for these. PowerOn, which was Kelly Computer way back when, sold the NeXT ADB keyboards for $29 each many years ago. I picked up two. They're long since out (I checked a few years ago). They also had some nice black NeXT ADB mice for $15. The mice are two button, but no-one's written a driver for the second button as far as I know.
