No, I have thin (2mm?) vertical black lines arrayed across the
screen so it's like looking at the desktop through a fine grill and two
or three of these lines are attached to the cursor and move horizontally
across the screen with it. I can just make out the desktop behind it but
not enough to read any diagnostics or even the system profiler.
I have five 1meg vram chips and just one should drive my Formac 17"
with 256 but it's a big hassle to test them with the mobo removal every
time. I know that one is definitely good as it fired up the screen ok
with the 8200 mobo in so it could be a fault with the 8500 mobo. I wish
I'd bought another Pulsar instead now as they're so easy to work with and
very fast with the G4 zif in - I put wide HD's in bays 3 and 4 of the
Pulsar - the fit is mighty tight but they hum along merrily without
overheating - the floppy bay requires some 'adaptation' for a HD so I'm
hoping my kids will get me a Dremel for Xmas - bay 7 is a problem for any
drive with an adapter so I'll leave that until I put a wide controller
and cable in
I also got quite a number of ram chips with these mobos and I seem
to remember someone explaining how to tell fpm from edo - 60ns from 70ns
would be handy to know too so I can get rid of them - does anyone
remember or have a link to specs?
