While you have it open, you can check for battery life. The battery is 
hard to get to and you need to take out the CD-hard drive tray by 
removing the single screw in the front and another to the right of the 
HD. The battery is held to the case  with velcro and connected with 2 
black & red wires. The battery is almost cube 1x3/4 inch. Radio Shack 
carries this 4.5 volt Rayovac #840 computer clock battery. Because of 
the battery connector design, the life in the battery may be difficult 
to test. The tester I have won't do it without an extra hookup.  You 
might be better starting off with a new $ 18USD battery from Radio 
Shack.  Good luck.
