I ran into this dilemma until someone on this list (I believe it was
Ford) pointed
out CD Spin Doctor I am using is capable of splitting out tracks.
There is a graphic display that is actually helpful without you having
to be
a sound engineer and is part of the splitting process because you have
to 
highlight the desired portion with your cursor and name/save it.
CD Spin Doctor comes with Toast Titanium.

I also have Coaster but haven't explored it much.
