Greetings, Listers !

Well...the DSL connection is up but ran into all sorts of system
crashes. Also, the (none-Apple) 8mb Ultimate Rez card was preventing the
the launching of the bootup process.
The (non-Apple) 4mb Twin Turbo is back in the machine for the time
being.
It seems this happens about every 12-months, which requires major
purging of the PRAM and reformatting the UW drive that houses the
System.

Also getting repeated finder crashes and System error notices upon
bootup.
All this started after installing the MacPoet extensions needed by the
Verizon Online DSL app. used for connecting to the service, although I'm
wondering if it's just coincidence and the drive is due for a major
maintenance.
Everything's backed up and ready for this operation, including fresh
install of the OS 9.1.

Trashing the Finder and Apple Menu options preferences and turning off
Apple Menu Options helped stop the System error freezup but still
getting Finder error crash (but allows me to use the computer.)

Using Disc Warrior helped but only temporarily.
Time for the HDST disc.

Anyway, it's time for shopping for a router now that the DSL connection
is working properly.

As for Supermac content, LinkSys recently introduced a wireless ethernet
bridge. which is suppose to simply wireless setup for machines such as
ours.
It is browser based for configuring.
For this reason I am leaning toward LinkSys 4-port router to prevent
compatibility issues with the ethernet bridge if I want that option,
altough I am wanting to hardwire the setup initially.

In closing this aimless Sat. morning rambling while the boys are tearing
up the house, I am not 100% sure about firmware updates and firewall
features offered by various router brands.
Is this a consideration for Mac owners or not a big deal because they
are also tweakable through a browser interface ?

Glad to be back.
I will make every effort to cancel the subscription under the old
address, which I haven't been able to log onto because some of the
settings were lost.

Alan
S900 - happy the 10-baseT port is seeing action for the first time and
working flawlessly.
