Howdy listers - Was gone Sat and not able to stay with this thread. As the originator of it, I'll post some followup.
There was a question on whether my connections is via USB - nope, it's the DSL 'modem' straight to the 10-baseT ethernet port on the S900. As for MacPoet, thanks to those who clarified the purpose of it in layman's terms, and in particular the stern warning of the need to stop using it. I am more eager to get the router so I can do away with MacPoet extensions and Verizon OnlineDSL interface, which has a "connect" and "disconnect" button the same as using Remote Access or FreePPP dialup interface but without the dialtone you hear from a phone modem. Brands - I am still stuck on the LinkSys because of the new wireless ethernet bridge. Someone was wondering if it's the "WET-11" - yes. If anyone knows that it should communicate with no problems with other brands' Wireless router, then I can consider Asante, Netware, etc, because the WET-11 is merely an option down the road. Athough pricy at $100+, it's a great product for our machines. I'm sure other brands will follow suit if there aren't any available already. I do appreciate the replies and the informative dissertations on all things DSL and networking. I couldn't be more pleased our Supermacs can make the transition into new technology (so to speak). Still getting finder error message upon bootup but the S900 is functionining fine otherwise once I close the window.
