There isn't much difference between 9.1 and 9.2. The 9.2 Finder is more responsive, but some people haven't noticed. The biggest thing I noticed is that the contextual menus under 9.2 are *much* faster. I don't get the long delays in the menu opening like I did sometimes under 8.6/9.1.
If you don't want to hack around, go with 9.1, it is a very nice stable system. Make sure you have the RAM though. From experiance, you really need minimun 64MB for good speed and stability, it is really happy if you can manage 128MB. Seeing as OWC has 128MB sticks of RAM for about $25, getting to 128MB shouldn't be to tough. -Rob <quote who="Nancy Haitz"> >> On Saturday, June 14, 2003, John wrote: >> >> Just to say thanks and let you know I've fixed it. snip... >> >> On a separate thread, I'm running 8.1 on the Umax and have been >> considering moving to 8.6 or 9.2.2 >> Any tips or recommendations much appreciated. > > Hi John, > > 8.6 is a nice OS, but OS 9 is even nicer, in my opinion.
