Hi all,

I've just bought a Laserjet 5M printer. As you'll know, this has an ethernet
port and PostScript, and its specs say that it is Mac-ready.

I'm trying to set this printer up so that I can print to it from two S900s.
Both are running OS9.2.2, but there's no difference if I fall back to 8.5.

I've set Appletalk to Ethernet output, and file sharing between both
machines works perfectly well.

But no matter what I try, I cannot get the printer to appear in the Chooser
when I click on the Laserwriter 8 icon in the left pane.

It appears that the printer is being seen over the network; if I set the
network address to 0 in Appletalk to match that given in the printer's
configuration printout I'm told that that address is already in use by
another device in the network. TCP/IP is shown as "Disabled".

I've tried the printer plugged directly into the S900's Ethernet port as
well as into the hub, no difference.

I can't help feeling that there's something I've missed, but what?

Can anyone help, please?

Derryck
