Sorry I didn't have time to get back to you sooner. I'm wondering did your problems start when you put in the new SCSI hard drive?
Many listers here and elsewhere have had problems using these hard drives with the 68 to 50 pin adapters and or the drive could be bad. Have you tried removing the new drive and going back to your old SCSI drive making sure to use the cuda button? What SCSI id number are you using for the new drive? IT doesn't seem that you'd get a completely dead machine from drive or SCSI issues but worth checking out. What do others think? Sorry I can't be of more help. Will S
Yes, an IBM UltraStar 9.1 gig OWC "Special" I returned several weeks ago. The whole reason for gettin' back into SCSI was, If you
might recall an earlier post I made about an Adaptec 2930 SCSI adapter I resurrected for use around my ATA setup, I finally got OSX to
boot "around" that card so I was able to utilize a 2.1 gig in this machine, again one of two S900's I use, well with that success I decided
to buy a larger 9.1 and install thats when my troubles occurred. When I got the 9.1 in my hands I installed, not to the adaptec 2930, but I installed utilizing Bus 1 instead, I did not remove the 2.1 during this one and only attempt, nor my ata drives. All I get is a "Happy Mac"
and nothing more...This the "original board"
I found a listing on ebay a short time after my problem occurred and ordered the new board, it arrived and I installed...I press the keyboard
startup key...nothing, any keyboard combination, even front panel access, nothing, so I'm assuming the "replacement board" is DOA.
Are their any physical "signs" I might look for or "tricks" I could perform to test?
I tinker to damn much I guess, but Its fun! regards, Phillip
