Yes, an IBM UltraStar 9.1 gig OWC "Special" I returned several weeks ago. The whole reason for gettin' back into SCSI was, If you
might recall an earlier post I made about an Adaptec 2930 SCSI adapter I resurrected for use around my ATA setup, I finally got OSX to
boot "around" that card so I was able to utilize a 2.1 gig in this machine, again one of two S900's I use, well with that success I decided
to buy a larger 9.1 and install thats when my troubles occurred. When I got the 9.1 in my hands I installed, not to the adaptec 2930, but I installed utilizing Bus 1 instead, I did not remove the 2.1 during this one and only attempt, nor my ata drives. All I get is a "Happy Mac"
and nothing more...This the "original board"

I found a listing on ebay a short time after my problem occurred and ordered the new board, it arrived and I installed...I press the keyboard
startup key...nothing, any keyboard combination, even front panel access, nothing, so I'm assuming the "replacement board" is DOA.

Are their any physical "signs" I might look for or "tricks" I could perform to test?

I tinker to damn much I guess, but Its fun! regards, Phillip

Your right and even more fun when a solution is found ;-)
I would have thought the fix for the original problem would have been o remove the drive that problems came with rather then a new motherboard. Perhaps you tried that first. Nothing with the new motherboards Sounds like Power supply or wires/ connectors from power supply or perhaps dead motherboard. I would pull power supply connectors and re-install. Also possible to check voltage from power supply with voltage meter. There are two plugs one should give you apox 5 volts and the other 12 volts apox. It should be the orange and black wires on one plug and the red and black on the other which you check. Don't remember which is which voltage but should be clear once tested. Yes there are more then one wire of the same color I don't think it matters which you check. Smalldog.com has powersupplies for $7.00 new at there garage sale this week only fri 6pm Etime end of sale should you need one. later Will S
