That is correct.


You never need the SSE version in the S900. In the machines which do need the SSE (9500, 9600, PTP) you only need the SSE if you are using a G4 processor.

The SSE contains logic which solves a CPU bus arbitration issue (bug) between the G4 and dual Bandit chips. The S900 has only one Bandit chip, so the bug does not arise. Two Bandit chips and a G4 are necessary for the bug to manifest.
