I just ordered an Apple x12 drive from ebay for cheap ($16 shipped), so I'll have it around in case none of the hacked drivers or the ones I've got work out. I should be fine for the 8.6 install. Believe it or not, in my Extensions folder are *both* the Apple CD-ROM extension, as well as the CD-ROM ToolKit Extension! I definitely have system 7.6.1 installed (it says so). Except for the browsers, which are Netscape 4.7 and ICab 2.9, the rest of the software has always been stable. The browsers crash regularly, but Photoshop 4.0 and dozens of other graphics programs and plugins run great. My plan is to be able to run most of my existing SW under 8.6, and finally upgrade my browsers to something that can deal with java and flash without crashing constantly. Thanks again to all for all the info, suggestions, and help. cj -- SuperMacs is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/> and...
