In times past I always had the control strip present. In it was an Icon
"CDstrip." What this did when clicked was show a pop up panel:
SCSI ID 3
Auto Play
Normal
And what looked like CD channels.
But lately when I clicked on it strange things happened. The desk top would
sort of blank out and come back. Sometimes no strip. A few times when it was
there and I was on AOL, and clicked on it, AOL crashed.
NOW, if the CDstrip icon is in the control strip Modules Folder of the System
folder, the control strip does NOT show itself. It is gone. I cannot turn it
on using the control strip in the control panels from the apple menu. If I
take the CDsrtip Icon out of the system folder the control strip is back.
Do I make and sense?
Arnie,
You might have a corrupted Control Strip Preference and maybe a flaky CD Strip Module.
Try the following: Open the System Folder and then find the Preferences Folder. Find the Control Strip Preferences and drag it to the trash. But don't empty the trash yet. Restart your computer.
If you still have your old (previous) System Folder, I would drag the CD Control Strip Module out of there and use it to replace the flaky one in your current System Folder. You should restart the computer again, after the replacement, just to be on the safe side.
If everything is back to normal, you can go ahead and empty the trash.
If that does not fix the problem, you might have some sort of conflict. If you are still having problems, what other Control Strip Modules are in your Control Strip Modules Folder?
