Maybe that's part of your problem.
I may be able to dig up a version that I used with 8.x but someone else may be able to send you one sooner.
I am still at work, but will dig around for various versions of CD-ROM ToolKit too, when I get home. Alan, I will email you off-list and we can compare notes, if that is ok. Somewhere we have the official UMAX OS 8 (or it might have been OS 8.1) Software CDs. I will take a look in there too.

On an related note: Does anyone remember if you could use the Apple CD Player application (that was usually installed in the Apple Extras Folder) with the UMAX CD-ROM? If it is workable, Arnie could put that in the Apple Menu Items and control his CD Drive from there, and just pitch the troublesome Control Strip Module.
