It would be nice to just plop in the DiskWarrior and boot from it.
However, I don't know how beneficial/useful DiskWarrior would be for X, so
that concern may be a non-issue.

Yes it boots fine for installing OSX. Booting Cd's in OSX on our old machines is just starting to happen. Right now XPFacto 3.0a11 can be used to boot Disk Warrior and Norton System works CD's from OS 9 and also works fine in Panther OSX 10.3 but crashes in Jaguar on my machine.(yes using the old Matshita CD player) Jaguar doesn't like XPfacto on the hard disk on my machine. This should be fixed by the time XPF 3.0 final version shows up. Disk Warrior is perhaps the very best OSX repair utility in my opinion. I use it all the time and Norton Speed disk is also of value but don't install on the hard disk.
Disk Warrior 2.1 can be used to repair Jaguar by running in OS 9. It does take a long time like nearly an hour for a 8 GB disk. Disk Warrior 3.0 booted into OSX using XPF takes like 20 min and the new 3.0.1 version takes like 5 min when run from a OSX partition! 2.1 version doesn't work with Panther. later Will S
