First off I believe any G3 card( made for the J700) will run in the J700 machine without any cache software. It will run much slower but will still boot and run. However the wrong software could keep it from booting. So I'd remove the cache software and try that. So the card ran fine in the Powercurve machine? Do you know what software was used with it? You really haven't given us enough or any info on the card other then to say G3 Newertech. They made a number of cards which each may use different software. There are even some G3 cards which only work in some machines and don't work in others not sure about the Powercurve . If cards for it work in other machines or not. Powerlogix software will likely run with the card. First off try with no software for the card and does the card have any info or hints at model etc? If you have a name or model number I could look it up. best of luck Will S
Yep, the riser card threw me too, but I have only seen the inside of Umax Clones, none of the others.
The card runs good in the Powercurve, there does seem to be a few minor things... like if the dimms are not placed in the spots the powercurve likes the card will not load. Also this Powercurve has a 1 mg backside cache the J700 is the standard that came with the unit? Would that change things? The info for this card is it is the Newertech G3 300 mhz card, the info about it says it works in pretty much all the clone models, Power Computing, Umax J700 + 900 etc., I can pull it and get the numbers off it too if it will help. Thanks for your help!
Diane
