John,

Thinking about your problem and just to cover some
bases:

1) do you have the correct extensions that go with
that ATI card.

2) if you plug in the old video card, does your system
boot up fine? if so, then there's a conflict or
something with the ATI card, and your s900 is free of
guilt. 

3) an out of the blue idea, but can you attach a
different monitor? that would rule out any monitor
issues and narrrow the focus of your search.

4) BOOT WITH EXTENSIONS OFF

5) try booting up and the do a soft boot. 

6) unplug any externals. keep it simple. mouse and
keyboard only. 

7) boot from a bootable CD. don't know what that
accomplishes, but it's worth a shot just to see.

8) BTW, if you have two video cards, you might want to
set up a dual display system.
