Could you see the rest of the drives when you made these adjustments?

Yes, but not what you were thinking. You can have up to seven unique
devices (technically 8 since the SCSI controller is device 0) on your scsi
chain. This is sometimes easier said than done. If you're around SCSI
long enough you'll hear people saying prayers to the daisy chaining god in
the hopes that all of the SCSI will work. Of course, if you have multiple
SCSI controllers you can use multiple ID's as long as they are on
different chains. There are some dual controller SCSI cards out there
fwiw.

It depends. Some systems have multiple controllers, the external on one
controller and the internal on another. It should be easy to tell with
the tools you're using. However, there are only a few Macs that have
that, I'm not sure what SuperMacs do (LEM would be a good place to look
for that info). More often than not the internal and external are on the
same controller which means you're about at your limit in the
configuration above depending on if you have a SCSI CD and HD.
The C500 has only one controller. Then again it has an IDE bus and was
designed to be a cheap system, the SCSI is there for compatibility.
