If I remember correctly...

The slow SCSI chain allows #s 0 through 7, 0 and 7 being taken by the "computer". So you have 1,2,3,4,5, and 6 available for devices. The "fast" SCSI, for those who have it, allows 0 through 15, so you have 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10,11,12,13, and 14 available for devices. This is includes both internal and external for each. There is also a cable length limitation on the "slow" SCSI of 9', including internal plus external cables. I don't remember the length limit for the UltraWide (fast) SCSI.
Correct me if I have it wrong.
