I think some of the install disks are designed as upgrades and only work by installing over the previous system. Like 9.1 over 8.6. some of the disks are full installs and will install on a blank formatted disk. I have a full install of OS9.1 and put it on a blank disk on my S900. I am still running 8.6 on my C600, but that is because I can't run my scanner stuff on 9.1.
