I know someone in your situation (retired due to disability). She's smart, very smart. But her area of expertise is in the area of European languages. Give her a classical Latin text to translate into Modern English and she'll have it done in no time. However her mind just doesn't work on technical matters and computers are a total mystery to her. It's totally incomprehensible. However when it comes to almost anything else she can run rings around you.
