Which capacity (CPU, RAM, hard disk) is not sufficient for Windows XP?
Depending on the answer you should upgrade your wife's PC probably with a (used?) motherboard with CPU and sufficient RAM. You can get them used for a few $s.
It is irresponsible to use Windows98 and SM 1.x on a PC connected to the internet.
