What I haven't seen suggested and what may help make the change you want, is this. Open Control Panel, then Folder Options. Click on the File Types tab and scroll down to the .wmv extension. Once you select it you can use the Change button to choose the program that opens .wmv files. You may need to use the Browse button to find the executable file for the media player you choose to use. This is a global change, not just a change in SeaMonkey. You can also change other extensions in this manner if you wish. HTH. (Would have posted earlier but server's been down)

Thank you for the suggestion.
I did that first thing (and also via the registry).
I can open wmv's stored on my computer with mplayerc and can
download and open using IE8 but can't with SM.
SM wants to use Windows media player no matter the settings.
Now that I have removed all references to wmp, SM just goes blank
when attempting anything with a wmv file.  At least thats
better than trying to open wmp.
I am having to use IE for more and more things. :(
