Go to Preferences in the browser Edit Tools and scroll down to the .wmv
listing and change the default player to anything you have installed to
play a .wmv file.

Do you mean Helper Apps?
If, so:
I set SM helper apps to use Media player Classic.
SM still wants to use wmp.
I removed all references to wmp in XP registry.
No change.
