Hmmm... there IS a reason to disable format flowed; it's called
"OpenPGP." Format flowed kills OpenPGP digital signatures. Enigmail has
a workaround for it, but, well, it does that by changing the original
message. Therefore, it's recommended that you disable format=flowed if
you intend using Enigmail, GPG, PGP or similar.

Perhaps Seamonkey's defaults were chosen by Enigmail users?
