Maybe a bit beyond my skill level. Probably intimidated by the long
list where you referred me. Do you mean get the Win 64 .zip or .7z? What
about the win 64.exe? Do any of these require an installer, or is it
included? Then I'll try it, as the only pointer I've seen so far.

Presumably the .exe is the installer, I've not tried it.
The .zip and .7z should be the same thing - just zipped up differently.
(you can get 7-zip at http://www.7-zip.org/)

But let's keep it simple - d/l and run vlc-2.1.1-win64.exe & let us
know how it works for you.

O.K., did as you suggested. Still got the same message: "The version of this file is not compatible with the version of the Windows you're using". The message then referred to 32 vs. 64 bit.

So, same result whether using the 32-bit or the 64-bit installer. Obviously it's something else in my computer. Any thoughts?
