export bookmarks as HTML to save them that way, and those can be

But that loses settings like histories in places.sqlite file which
happened to me with v2.29. :(

Are you saying that restoring bookmarks by importing HTML bookmarks destroys history? Surely the history and bookmarks are separate, even though they are both in places.sqlite?
