Sure the searchbar resizes itself when buttons are added but it is not
able to be resized manually by the users. Also the screenshot of the
default theme shows the addon section which blends in the the statusbar,
so no its not that thick on a regular website.
The find bar on the top moves the entire page down when it's enabled,
the find bar implementation on the bottom overlays the page keeping
everything in the same position while searching.

You mean the search bar does not resize itself? I thought I had to
add code to the userChrome.css file to prevent that.
What is wrong with the Find bar being where it is? Find bars in
other browsers are near the top and you get used to bars being in a
different position after a while. SeaMonkey does not have an addon
bar, and when I added one, it was right under the navigation toolbar.
I got used to its being there.
The status bar is really that thick as shown in the screenshots with
the SeaMonkey Modern theme? The default theme and most third party
themes do not make it that thick.
