One other consideration -- if you're spoofing in Seamonkey, that
applies
not only your browser, but what is put in your outbound mail, as
well. I
run the Display Mail User Agent extension (which I find useful for
quickly knowing what mail or news client a person is using).
Occasionally, when I'm filing stuff from my Sent folder, I'll notice
that a message will show an orange Firefox logo, rather than a blue
Seamonkey logo, and that tells me that I forgot to reset spoofing, when
I was done with needing it.

If you are just wanting to see what mail and/or news client a person is
using, why would you need to run an additional extension (now that our
computers are all squeezed from RAM and HD space!! ;-P ), when all you
have to do is enter about:config in the address bar, accept the warning,
then in the "Search Bar" enter "mailnews.headers.showUserAgent" and set
its Boolean function to "true" (by double clicking on it, I think!).
Then if you had you e-mail set up to show the four line header, it will
now display five lines!!
WFM!!
Weeell! Somewhere along the lines, I've also picked up a Preference
named "mailnews . headers . showUserAgent" .... note all the extra
spaces?? I don't know what they're about!!
If you want that information on someone else, select the message and
then select [View > Message Source] from the menu bar. The information
is in the header field "User-Agent".
I just install the Mnenhy extension
<https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/seamonkey/addon/mnenhy/>
which adds many useful features for newsgroups including customized
extended headers to display header fields like "User-Agent" and
messageid links...
Hmm... says not available for 2.40 but I am currently using Mnenhy
0.8.6.1-signed.1-let-fixed on 2.40. Maybe he hasn't updated the
install.rdf upper version threshold.
As long as Mnenhy is doing more than just the one thing (showing
UserAgent) for you, not a problem!! Just it seems, to me, a shame to
have to install an extension just to do (only) something which SM can do
natively!
