Last night (Friday), I recorded Part Two of a (I think) three part T.V.
series,
http://www.ebroadcast.com.au/tv/detail.php?id=17835978&fta=1&fox=0,
and,
before I watched this, I was going to sit back this (Saturday)
afternoon
and watch Part One (which I missed last Friday) of the series on my
Laptop!
Too easy!! Just go to the ABC's iView website, select the Part One,
http://iview.abc.net.au/programs/ice-cream-girls/ZW1056A001S00, and
away
I go. This site may be Region Blocked for you guys, but that's O.K.,
'cause my problem is that, when I clicked on the program, I get a quick
page telling me I need "to activate Adobe Flash".
When I go to about:plugins, I see listed at the bottom of that page,
Path: C:\Windows\SysWOW64\Macromed\Flash\NPSWF32_25_0_0_171.dll which,
apparently, works for Adobe Flash movies and will work for FutureSplash
movie (whatever they will be!!).
That "activate Adobe Flash" page very quickly disappears and is
replaced
by a screen stating .....
"Error loading media: File could not be played.
Sorry there is a problem with this video.
We could not load the video stream you requested".
Is my Adobe Flash not able to play this T.V. program?? Or is there
something else I need to be doing??
TIA
As advised by others here, I contacted ABC Help over the week-end and
they e-mailed back today .....

Hi Daniel,
Thanks for reaching out.
Would you please carry out the following steps to resolve this issue:
1. reinstall the Flash Player plugin on your computer and check that
you have the plugin still enabled on your web browser.
2. switch off your internet modem / router for 30 seconds then switch
everything on again.
3. delete your web browser cache (found within the preferences
section in the web browser's menu) and then reopen iview.
End Quote
Well, I guess that gives me something to do tomorrow!! ;-(
Daniel
Carried out those instructions and no change (except I've update from
Flash
10 to Flash 27!!).
So now awaiting a further response from ABC Help.
You may well be on a fool's errand. I recall the first (and last) time
I contacted HP support for a new printer. The person I reached told me
to start by defragging my hard drive. I realized I was not going to get
any useful help from them. The gal even talked about how that didn't
make sense to her either but that is what all the other reps would tell
customers. In other words, the entire support staff had no idea how to
fix anything and they simply had a few worthless suggestions to try.
I had a problem with either Netflix or Hulu once using their service
with a smart TV box. They said the problem was in the box and I need to
talk to the maker about it. Funny, it works with all the other services!

Thanks for the tip on Ice Cream Girls. I like a lot of Aussie TV.
Thanks for the links rickman, I'll check them out!
I got another response from ABC iView Help and the juist was that, in
about six months, they will be switching to HTML5 format ... which
doesn't help me much as the program d/l is supposed to expire in a
couple of weeks or so!!
This was on a Saturday afternoon. Maybe there will be some "real" help
available on Monday!
