My guess is that you imported the records directly into the names file using the FileMaker menu item, rather than using the ebase import procedure. I was able to duplicate your results (empty record numbers) by importing directly and leaving the check box (perform auto-enter actions...) unchecked in the import dialog box. This gives you at least a couple of problems. First, the record numbers are empty, as you discovered. Second, related records in the custom, profile, and summary files are not created during that process. The easiest way to recover from this is to start over. Delete all the recently imported records if there is other data in the file. If not, throw the whole file set out and start fresh with a clean set of ebase files. Import your records using the ebase procedure outlined in the manuals. >Is 2.0 available?
